Other Ceremonies

Your Moment, Your Way

Crafting a unique and personal ceremony to honour an important moment in your life's journey is a powerful way to acknowledge these passages. Let me assist you in creating and officiating a ceremony tailored to suit your needs, and encompass your values and beliefs.

How It Works:

We begin with a free consultation where we connect and discuss the ceremony you envision. At this time, we can discuss dates, possible locations, the tone you’d like to set, your personal beliefs, the size of your guest list, any ideas you might have, and any concerns you might feel about the ceremony. From there, you’ll pay a deposit to secure me for your event, and then as the date approaches, we’ll connect with another meeting to go over the final details.

"We had some pretty unconventional plans made, and Catherine just dove right in! She was so lovely and accommodating, her energy was so amazing. It was probably one of the craziest events most officiants could imagine, but Catherine handled it with skill and grace."

Ceremony Ideas

Here are some examples of the kinds of ceremonies we can create together. Don’t see your idea here? Please contact me and we can bring your vision to life.

  • Christenings and Baby Naming Ceremonies: Welcome the newest member into your family with a secular baby naming ceremony where the little one is named before a gathering of your nearest and dearest and your wishes for the life that will unfold before them are spoken aloud. Or, if your preference is for a more religious approach, I am a designated minister with Clergy Support Memorial Church and am certified to perform baptisms and christenings. I work with Baptisms Canada to officiate these events so the link below will take you to their site where you may inquire about my availability, get a quote for the ceremony you desire, and book me for this special occasion. Christenings and naming ceremonies aren't just for babies. They can be a meaningful way to recognize anyone of any age who is committing to a new spiritual path and wishes to honour that choice with ceremony. I have also performed these ceremonies in nearby Lake Ontario and Lake Erie; a powerful way to incorporate the elements.

  • Adoption and Family Commitment Ceremonies: These ceremonies are a powerful way for new families (by way of adoption or blended union) to acknowledge their bond before loved ones and community. We can create a ceremony that involves participation by family members of all ages.

  • Home Warming and Blessing Ceremonies: Set the stage for happiness and prosperity in your new home with a house warming or blessing ceremony. I can incorporate cultural traditions, prayers or poems that reflect your values, and/or the Celtic tradition of saining, a practice similar to the more familiar Indigenous practice of smudging, which uses smoke from sacred herbs or plants to clear the energy of a space and welcome in your best intentions for your home and hearth.

  • Uncoupling Ceremonies: The end of a relationship can become a powerful life transition when the focus is on the lessons learned and the positivity that arose from the bond that was forged. It can also help release the pain and grief of separation. An uncoupling ceremony can be a shared experience with your former partner or spouse, or with your closest friends.

  • Parenting Ceremonies: Just as we have beautiful ceremonies to welcome little ones to the fold, so too do we need ceremonies that honour the incredible journey into parenthood. These ceremonies can involve participation by older family members or other parents that serve as strong examples, as they impart their wisdom to the parent(s)-to-be.

  • Ancestral Honouring Ceremonies: Most cultures and faiths have a special day that is dedicated to honouring departed ancestors and family members. This ceremony can be used whenever you feel like you need the wisdom and guidance of those who have gone before you, or when you simply want to create dedicated space to honour the lives that they have lived. In addition to leading a ceremony in honour of your ancestors, I can teach you how to create a family altar in your home so you may feel closely connected to those who have gone before whenever you wish.

  • Coming-of-Age Ceremonies: These ceremonies mark the passage from youth to young adulthood, a tradition that has been lost to many of us, but one that serves as an empowering opportunity for young members of our families and community as they embrace responsibility and begin to articulate the personal values that will guide their lives.

  • Coming Out Ceremonies: A coming out ceremony celebrates an individual sharing their truth with the people they hold dear. The intention with these ceremonies is to create a supportive gathering that reinforces shared bonds of love, respect, and safety. Participation from family and loved ones is welcome, in the sharing of well-wishes and words of acceptance.

  • Gender Affirming Ceremonies: Gender affirming ceremonies acknowledge and honour those who are transitioning or folks who are non-binary. These ceremonies are joyful and supportive, and are a beautiful way for community and family to see and embrace members who are on the journey to a deeper realization of self.

  • Cronehood and Elder Ceremonies: Elder ceremonies are another age-related rite of passage to honour the process of stepping into one's wisdom and status as a valued elder within a family and community. Cronehood ceremonies are particularly powerful in changing the narrative around menopause to recognize this time as an empowered transition for those who experience this.

  • Pagan and Celtic Wheel of the Year Ceremonies: The changing seasons and the ancient festivals of planting and harvest are honoured across many cultures. Ceremonies and rituals to honour the cycle of the year include the Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, Autumn Equinox and Winter Solstice. Other ceremonies acknowledge various Celtic festival days such as Lammas, Samhain, Beltane, and Imbolc. Ritual and ceremony for full and new moon recognition are also available.
